Every Sunday, many volunteers show up and work together in their unique role to create an AMAZING environment for our kids! UpStreet is totally volunteer fueled and wouldn’t exist without the leadership and expertise of our volunteers. Each volunteer has a part to play on our team. Some of the volunteer roles are:
Serving on Sundays – Large Group
Large Group Storyteller: Storytellers creatively engage kids in a
large group Bible lesson in Room 100. They use dramatic and interactive techniques to bring the Bible to life.
Worship Leader/Large Group Host: Worship leaders are energetic people who engage kids in a large-group worship time. They work in coordination with the Storyteller by using energetic, interactive techniques to ‘set the stage’ for the worship/bible learning time. They lead in interactive motions and help the kids connect with the songs.
CM Tech Team: Tech people are trained to run Graphics (Power Point & videos), and/or Sound (including lighting effects) board during Large Group time. No experience necessary.
Serving on Sundays – Small Group
Small Group Leader “Shepherd”: Shepherds spend time building relationships with a small group of kids. They help kids apply Bible lessons to their lives using activities like fun games or crafts (2:52 Basics curriculum provided) that get the kids talking.
Small Group Helper “Shepherd Helper”: Shepherd Helpers assist shepherd in various ways during the service hour. This is a good position for students and those who would like to “test drive” Children’s Ministry.
Kid’s Fellowship Worker: Kid’s Fellowship Workers help children who are at LakeView for more than one service hour have fun for that extra time. They help kids of multiple ages make friends, have a snack, and play games.
Shadow for a Child with Special Needs: A shadow serves as a one-on-one aide for kids with special needs to enable them to participate in our regular Sunday programming. No experience is necessary. All that is needed is a patient heart that wants to serve and love kids.
Serving on Sundays – Host & Security Team
Greeter: Greeters welcome families as they enter UpStreet, with the registration process, direct traffic flow in the hallways, and answer questions.
Security Monitor: Security Monitors help guests feel comfortable as they guide children/families to their classrooms. They create a safe environment for the kids and volunteers. They manage hallway usage and offer first response help in emergency situations.
