Update on Women’s Ministry at LakeView Church
Dear Women of LakeView,
We are excited to let you know where we are at in the process of figuring out Women’s Ministry programming. We had a brain-storming meeting on June 2, 2010 where 21 women of all ages and generations shared what they would like to see in a women’s ministry program. Here were the top 6 categories they identified in order of priority:
1. growing spiritually/discipleship
2. mentoring
3. retreats
4. sense of community & sharing
5. day away/night away
6. prayer time
From this brain-storming meeting we have pulled together a “lead team” to help us focus on how to align Women’s Ministries with LakeView’s mission and vision and also to discuss what kinds of programming we can provide, how often we can meet and what the next steps will be. When we recapped what we have offered to women in the past year, we identified we were addressing needs of Mothers of Preschoolers and Precept study women for day time connections. This brought to light the need for other points of connections for ALL women both during the day and night.
We have agreed we would work on 4 areas this next ministry year.
1. Spiritual Growth (large and small group gatherings & studies with opportunities for seekers, mentorship and women wanting to grow their relationship with Jesus)
2. Retreats (one being planned for the fall)
3. Outreach (taking the church to our community, missions, meals for families in need, serving, etc)
4. Girls’ Night Out (having a date night with other women in all stages of maturity)
Please join us as we seek the Lord’s will in these areas of ministry and for the future programming & leadership of Women’s Ministries at LakeView.
We greatly appreciate your prayers and support. We will continue to be committed to keeping you informed.
Women’s Ministry Lead Team,
Julie Speth,Cindy Knapton, June Lawlor, Cheryl Gahan, Amy Krabbe, Kristi Blankenship, and Andrea Hook
